The Rev. Gregory  L. Davis, Pastor of Second Missionary Baptist Church’s Vision Statement
Brothers and Sisters, it is my pleasure to serve as the pastor of the historic Second Missionary Baptist Church of Fayetteville, NC.  In my initial 30 days of service to this congregation, I have the following vision statement, which includes my priorities, as we move the church from post-pandemic back to a sense of normalcy in worship:
1.  To grow the church numerically through evangelistic and spiritual advertisement/effort.
2.  To require all the church and ministry leaders to be accountable to God and their church by giving their tithe, time, and talents to the church and to the execution of their assigned duties.
3.  To be a pillar in the community as a church, and partner with the local community; especially the community surrounding the Church.
4.  To be inclusive of new members, embracing them and their gifts; supporting them in their endeavors to add positively to the church and its livelihood.
5.  To diversity the Christian Education Department with a panel of advisors that can give input to a relevant curriculum.
6.  To cultivate every generation within the church: The Senior Saints (80+), Experienced Elders (60-79), Middle Adults (40-59), Young Adults (20-39), Teens (13-19) and Youngins (12 and below).
7.  To cherish, remember, call and visit our homebound, elderly or hospitalized members.  We want to be intentional engaging those that sacrificed a portion of their lives, through service while healthy, emphasizing their continued importance to the life of the church while in a weakened state.
Finally, in a general manner, I also have a vision to be able to Praise God as a church family in all seriousness, laugh at the appropriate time, cry for and with one another, engage one another in Christian love, and work through issues without needlessly exposing one another’s shortcomings.  To put in practice our covenant agreement to refrain from gossip and tale-bearing, but always look to reconcile from any rift or split amongst our fellow church family.  I expect the church to assist me in providing reproof and correction to dangerous doctrine, frivolous behavior, cliques and/or factions, as they are dangerous to the health and good order of our congregation.  My sincere hope is that any negative behavior that falls in the category of those previously mentioned will be brought to the attention of the persons first, and subsequently to the attention of church leadership (Pastor and Deacons), if required, in hopes of bringing immediate member reconciliation.

Our God is a God of abundance and He loves to give. He sacrificed willingly on the cross and then invited us into fullness of life. As His children, we are called to imitate Him. Our generosity in giving is a demonstration of God’s character and a response to what He has done for us.
